Nottingham Road, Derby Road, Church Street junction
Stapleford
Nottinghamshire
England
Looking from the main crossroads in Stapleford at the junction of Nottingham Road, Derby Road, Toton Lane and Church Street at the location called The Roach, looking down Church Street. (The name 'Roach' originated from the time when French prisoners from the Napoleonic Wars were set the task of hewing rock to create roads and this was referred to as the 'La Roche' (meaning boulder or rock). The Chequers Inn opposite, has barely changed today.
