Steam Locomotive - a Fairburn 2-6-4 tank engine

Sherwood Road Maltings
Worksop
Nottinghamshire
England

View of the siding of C E Seed Maltings. Shows steam locomotive on track. This is the 'empty stock' of the stopping passenger-train from Nottingham. It was stabled here out of the way until the time of the return Worksop to Nottingham (Midland Station) train. The engine is one of several different classes of ex-LMS '4MT' tank-engine, and would have been allocated to Nottingham 'shed'. (it can be affirmed that this is the train as above, as all the other steam passenger trains running through Worksop were hauled by ex-LNER engines'). The Nottingham to Worksop passenger service was withdrawn in October 1964.
