Shalom Lodge, now incorporated into the Girls' High School and Lilley and Stone School, was built in 1897 by Oliver Quibell, a partner in the local firm of agricultural supplies merchants, and Mayor of Newark in 1907 and 1908. He lived there until his death in February 1945.
