A great deal of work was required in the space between Bagnall Road and Cinderhill Road, seen in the background, before the Cinderhill stop could take shape. Until 1962, this was the site of Cinderhill junction where the branch from the Great Northern Railway's Derby line at Babbington junction met the Midland lune (the present tramway). The photograph is taken from the filled in Great Northern Railway bridge whose parapet remains.
