Rolleston Station
Rolleston
England

On the Midland Line between Nottingham and Lincoln. The picture (taken looking north west) shows one of the disused platforms from the days when Rolleston Junction (as it was then known) was an interchange between the line from Nottingham to Lincoln (via Newark), and the branch to Southwell and Mansfield. The status of Rolleston Station was further enhanced by its proximity to Southwell racecourse: Race goers from Nottingham and the Midlands would travel by rail in their droves, whilst the racehorses themselves were also unloaded here.
