This picture was taken looking south from Stodman Street down St Mark's Lane. The entrance to St Mark's Place may be seen on the left. The shopkeeper is Joseph Dixon, grocer. In the 1960's the St Mark's Lane area was redeveloped as a large shopping complex called St Mark's Precinct. None of the buildings pictured remain.
