The bus pictured has Gash's fleet number LT1. It has a Leyland Titan TD1 chassis with Leyland coachwork. The registration is EK7436, issued in 1930 (Wigan). The bus was acquired by Gash's in July 1947 from Wigan Corporation for use as the first double-decker bus on the Newark to Nottingham route, to cope with increasing volume of passengers. The volume of passenger traffic generated by the RAF stations along the Newark to Nottingham route led to the introduction of the double-decker 48 seat buses. EK7436 was acquired with a second similar Leyland Titan EK8113 (fleet number LT2) also from Wigan Corporation. Both were Lowbridge buses to allow for the two railway bridges on the route near Saxondale. Old when acquired, the buses were withdrawn from service in July 1950 and sold to Balfour Beatty in Sept 1950 for use as non public service works vehicles.
