The Town Hall is just visible on the far left of the picture with Cherrington's Chemists shop next door at number 5. At number 6, is J J Lowe's Carpet House, beside the entrance at Chain Lane. The prominent white building, numbers 12 and 13, houses Curry's Cycle and Radio Shop, whilst next door is the Don Juan snack bar. There was a chemist at 5, Market Place as early as 1780 with George Cherrington becoming an apprentice at the business in 1882. The tenant in 1780 was George Stevenson, 'Druggist'. The building was part of the Duke of Newcastle's Estate and Stevenson paid an annual rent of
